moving healthcare forward

Year End Update

December 2007

Dear Friends:

Much has happened in the past several months to lay the groundwork for our new hospital that will provide residents of central Montgomery County with the very latest in medical capabilities, technological advancements, and emergency services.

In August, Albert Einstein Healthcare Network and Montgomery Hospital Medical Center entered into an agreement to purchase the 90-acre property along Germantown Pike in East Norriton that is currently the site of Woody’s Golf Center. We were pleased to have the opportunity to purchase this property, as it is ideally situated for the state-of-the-art hospital and bucolic medical campus we are planning. The site’s location will permit easy access to medical services for residents of central Montgomery County, and it is large enough to enable us to preserve a portion of the site as open green space.

Since September, we have been out in the community, meeting and listening to you — our new neighbors, local businesses and community organizations, and we have welcomed your input and suggestions. We have selected the nationally respected architectural firm of Perkins + Will that has particular expertise in the construction of “greenfield” hospitals and our planning and development process is underway. We will continue to work with the East Norriton community, as we plan and develop this new community resource.

Based on early architectural planning, engineering data, and feedback from the community, we have requested modest zoning changes that will allow us to build an exceptional hospital facility that fulfills our goal of providing access to advanced care and is also respectful of the needs of the surrounding community. In November, we filed two applications with East Norriton Township to make minor modifications to the existing zoning code so that the new hospital can be sited more centrally on the property. These modifications will benefit our neighbors and enable us to construct a new hospital surrounded by a beautiful campus.

Our ultimate goal is to provide the residents of central Montgomery County with an outstanding new resource to meet their medical needs right here in their own community. We are pleased with the progress we have made in 2007 toward fulfilling this goal, and we look forward to moving ahead in 2008 with our plans for the development and construction of a new hospital to serve the people and communities of our region.
